Learning Progression:

Kindergarten Number Sense

In preschool, children learn to understand numbers and quantities as well as number relationships and operations in their everyday environment. In kindergarten, children are expected to meet number sense standards in three areas:

For example, children around 60 months of age will recite numbers in order to 20 with increasing accuracy. By the time they are in kindergarten, they will be able to count to 100 by ones and tens. TK is a year of learning in between these two different expectations.
